Some machines legends at the ARGENTAN 's depot.

Between 1909 and 1910: the submission of Argentan receives 2 Pacific.

After 1918 saw the 140 and Baldwin and 15 ACLO Mikado.

in 1925: 90 locomotives to the filing of which ARGENTAN 3 "030", 16 "230", 17 "231", 27 "140", 14 "141", 13 "030TB" and "040TA".

in 1966: 56 locomotives are still in the filing include: 6 "141 C", 31 "141p", 19 "141 R".

The Steam locomotives "030"

The locomotive is 030 whose configuration is:

- 3 Wheels Drive

- Total weight in running order: 39.6 tonnes
- Length + machine tender: 7,85 m.
- Diameter of driving wheels: 1,30 m.

These machines operate on the network railway from the west to 1881. The C 815 is kept in the museum in Mulhouse. They ended up primarily as a result of switching machines in the depots.

The Steam locomotives "230 "

230 locomotives were built in a series of 170 machines delivered from 1916 to 1923.

whose configuration is:

- 1 carrier truck with 2 axles to the front

- 3 essieurs engines

Characteristics of 230g

Diameter of 1.760 m wheel drive

Maximum service speed 100 km / h

Curb mass 67.8 T

Curb mass of tender 39.95 T

Capacity: 4.25 T coal, water 17 m3

390 T 50 km / h ramp to 10 mm / m

-The 230 G 352 and its tender 17 D (PO repainted version 4352 in 1973) ---

The Pacifics 231.

The Railway Company of the West will implement the first 2 231 Pacific type.

For the West company ,It will be numbered 2901 and 202 and correspond to the first 2 prototypes Pacifics.

Pacifics are the 231 locomotives whose configuration is:

- 1 carrier truck with 2 axles to the front

- 3 essieurs engines

-1 Axle carrier to the rear

Throughout their career, Traction Equipment and service of the State made several changes to its Pacific in order to improve the functioning but also able to save water and fuel.

The Steam locomotives 140 .

  • The steam locomotives 140 whose configuration is:

    - 1 axle at the front

    - 4 essieurs engines

  • The Simple expansion locomotives and 2 cylinders

  • Driving wheel diameter: 1440 mm
  • Wheel diameter bearing: 086 mm

----The 140 - 314 C Built in 1917 in Glasgow (Great Britain )---------

The MIKADO series 141.

The Mikado of P-141 series locomotives whose configuration is:

- 1 front axle

- 4 essieurs engines

--1 Rear axle

constructed the number of 318 locomotives.

  • Curb mass: 112 t
  • Length: 13.775 m
  • Total weight: 195 t
  • Length: 23.73 m
  • Maximum speed in service: 105 km / h

It was a separate tender locomotive can be 3 types:

  • type 34 Pcontaining 34 cubic meters of water and 12 tons of coal
  • type 36 P containing 36 cubic meters of water and 9 tons of coal,
  • type 26 Q containing 36 cubic meters of water and 9 tons of coal.

-------- The P 141 ----- None of these machines has been retained.------------

The Mikado of the R 141 series are probably the most famous locomotives and were made to the number of 1323. In fact, France had commissioned in 1340

The U.S. industry, but the sinking of the Norwegian freighter "Belpalmela" that back in France sank with 17 locomotives board.

The France is starting to run out of coal, some of them were converted to use oil to heat the boiler. The 141-R fuel burning jet fuel heavy liquefied by pre-heating. Depending on the type of combustion, the engine oil were heated and black with red or green for machinery heated with coal. These machines were so-called "tar".

Arrangement of the axles 141 R:

- 1 front axle

- 4 essieurs engines

--1 Rear axle carrier

This machine is called mixed-average performance but suitable for all types of transport: freight trains, passenger trains, laborers, bus, express.

Universal Locomotive. Able to being driven by mixed crews relaying and ensuring the end of crews holders. She broke the driver-mechanic crew members.

Total weight: 116 t

  • Length: 14.64 m
  • Maximum speed in service: 105 km / h
  • Crochet Power: 2928 hp at 80 km / h

It was a separate tender locomotive containing 30 cubic meters of water and 11.5 tonnes of coal.

----Born in States - USA The most famous locomotive: the R 141 --------------

The Mikado of the series C 141.

The series was launched to 250 copies.

This locomotive is also mixed. Their low axle load can meet on most short lines in the West where they finish their careers until the late 1970's.

These locomotives are simple expansion ie it is easy driving and good robustness. The pressure of the boiler has been limited. This machine has undergone big changes, but the decline started with the steam, they will not be applied on most of these machines.

Arrangement of the axles of the 141 C:

- 1 front axle

- 4 essieurs engines

- 1 Rear axle carrier

Total weight: 89.2 t

  • Length: 13.75 m
  • Maximum speed in service: 100 km / h
  • Engine: 2 cylinder simple expansion

Contents of tender: 22 tons of water and 9 or 12 tons of coal
